Hello! And welcome to Zarah’s Earth Kitchen! This blog has been a long time coming and I’m so happy it’s finally here so that I can share all my plant-based recipes with you! Plus all the tips and tricks I’ve picked up in the kitchen since becoming vegan two years ago.
I decided to adopt a plant-based diet for many reasons but it was mainly after going through a difficult time with my health. I had already been vegetarian for about a year before this and after I had learned more about the cruelty in mass animal agriculture, dairy and egg farming I decided that I could no longer consciously contribute to the suffering of innocent, sentient beings when it wasn’t necessary for survival or to thrive. My health gradually improved and became manageable which only strengthened by resolve to remain vegan. It’s still one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
Going vegan initially felt like learning how to cook all over again but I’ve learnt so much about plant-based ingredients and enjoyed re-creating the dishes I used to love growing up, as well as, developing new ones that I want to share these recipes and techniques with everyone. The best part has been exploring the different combinations of flavours and textures that I didn’t even know existed – every time I create a new dish, it’s like discovering food all over again.
I want to show you that you don’t have to give up anything by going vegan and that plant-based food can be easy, sustainable and incredibly satisfying.
